There is nothing best and nothing worst than a Internship , its been 3 months in Forbes Marshall and still a half way to go .
Getting selected through a proper interview was fun , from that exact moment 12 classmate were turned into collegues toghether .
Departments like maintainance , fabrication , accounts , purchases , inspection , Research and devolopment were known but New project devolopment was something new to learn , this all were further detailed into steam system department (SSD) , Boilers , Thermodynamic Trap assembly (TDT) , Vendor park ... as because FM is a boiler , strainer , manifold , steam traps , separators and many more manufacturing company which is all related to water and steam line . We 12 were distributed in all various departments randomly (May Be) from first day itself on 15th june 2016 .
Being in actual industry is fun , exciting , full of nervousness for all of us . Seeing all employees busy with thier work was pretty boring , but soon we were part of that work which was challenging .
Have you seen movie Jurassic Park ? visitors in dinosaurs zoo ?
we were in same condition , the vast spreaded industry with huge machines and large number of operators and we small innocents kids with just one order given to us all by our respective guides “ go and see everything ” . Mark my words readers they will tell you to see but ask “ what did you observe ? ”
FM has 3 or more plants in Pune itself . One at Kasarwadi , other at Pimpri and onther at Chakan . We all have to gather at Kasarwadi at 9am and bus took us to Chakan via Pimpri ... ( Daily scene ) . same while coming back at 5:30 pm from Chakan .
I got inspection deparment . Before a customer or a Third Party Inspector (TPI) would visit to witness everything about a job , i was told to find , check , arrange , test jobs (if needed) or make documents regarding it and getting Inspection Realese Note (IRN) . Because how many IRN we get is unit of how much we work .
First 20 or more days were worst my i phone tracker showed i walked around 10KM+ distance everyday just within company that to with heavy safety shoes and helmate on a head .
Musters ,signs , calls , gate passes , documents , appointments , reportings , leave applications all became routine and after one month it was like a protein to us all .
Being in canteen and gossiping about our guides was main thing while eating, though food is not that good and even the way things work were unknown to us earlier but now eveything is easy to do for us all .
Wearing formal cloths sucks , talking formal i think is fake , but being normal is best ... i continued that . while having ‘Chai’ as refreshment with my guide i got to know what is his view about work . He said “ i need is work done not how you do it ” so i begane to take more time to do work but with less mistakes .
Files , emails , bunch of papers are most boring things to find something usefull from . But soo my guide helped me in much ‘ Systematic way ’ . Working at Kasarwardi sometimes was fun and new to explore , which i get as a chance sometimes .
you know ? not only Man(Human) talk but also Machines talk , because both need attention . My guide told to do work but operators told me how to do work, how things work ! Because tools are like words , when you need to work with machine .
When you are in Industry you need to know Two languages, one is language of management and another is language of machine .
when Man and Machine talk they really need something from you .
Because not only man but even machines are tested , aprooved certified and then placed , but though they may fail sometimes as humans do .
If related with experience there is nothing best as internship and being responsible but not concerned is nothing worst than a Internship.
Still a half way to go ... i would say ... it should never go !
Been through the same experience.. Although it n a different department... Your story is simple and amazingly observed... Keep it buoy...best of luck for next half.
